Ukrainian Global University is a non-profit initiative founded to unite the best educational institutions in the world that will provide access to education for Ukrainian students, scholarship holders and scientists.
For the future reconstruction
First of all, those Ukrainians who want to study or conduct research abroad will be supported in order to return to Ukraine for reconstruction.
According to the Presidential Commissioner for Education, Science and Sport Olga Budnyk, UGU's main goal is to overcome the devastating effects of Russian aggression in Ukraine and draw on leading world experience to build a new Ukraine as a proud member of the world community of free and democratic nations.
How is the project developing?
Currently, the UGU team is focused on building personal and institutional partnerships with educational institutions and research centers around the world that agree to consider applications for medium- and long-term programs from Ukrainians and sponsor students, scientists and researchers.
Details are agreed with each partner individually, but all must sign an open memorandum with UGU, which sets out common values and principles.
So far, Stanford, Harvard, the Sorbonne and dozens of other leading universities in the world have already supported the initiative.
The UGU team is creating a network of volunteers
To connect more institutions to the UGU network, the team attracts volunteers - graduates and representatives of educational institutions from around the world. Each and every one of them can become UGU ambassadors in their schools, colleges, universities or apply to the administration of any institution around the world to initiate a partnership with UGU.
How to become a member of UGU?
Ukrainian students and scholars can take advantage of the simplified application process on the UGU website. They will then have to go through the full or simplified application process at any educational institution listed on the platform to increase their chances of admission.
A prerequisite for participation in the program is a return to Ukraine after graduation or research to help rebuild the country after the war.
UGU is also working with DuoLingo, an online language learning program, to allow Ukrainians to take English language tests and receive certificates free of charge.
*The Ukrainian Global University was founded by a consortium of leading Ukrainian educational institutions and organizations: Kyiv School of Economics, Ukraine Global Scholars, Ukrainian Catholic University, Emerging Leaders Program at Stanford University, Professional Government Association, SET University of Technology and Kyiv Academic University.
The initiative was approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States and the President of Ukraine.
